Essential Tools for Working with Families
In a two-day seminar designed for trained mediators, family therapists, and other family advocates working with divorcing partners and families, Simon T. Fickinger IV of Peaceful Resolutions in Missoula, offers 16 hours of Family Dynamics and Child Development to prepare for the dissolution of a marriage or parent separation. This family dynamics element assists with understanding the difficult issues involved in working with a family looking at divorce or parental separation. This training goes beyond interpersonal conflict, gender issues, communication processes, and ethics relevant to conflict involving children, and “hot buttons” for recognizing various kinds of abuse. This seminar will also cover several other important pieces of information to help new and experienced mediators, family therapists, and family advocates to help parents prepare for a successful divorce or parental separation:

Basic Mediation Training
A 40 hour Basic Mediation training is offered by the Center for Collaborative Solutions every spring and fall. The next course is October 15-18 with the fifth day of training on November 13. This is an intensively interactive 5-day course designed for anyone interested in acquiring and developing the essential skills and techniques of successful mediators. CEU credits. Family Mediation
A family mediation seminar will be offered by the Center for Collaborative Solutions in partnership with the Montana Mediation Association on an ongoing basis as there is demand. The most recent class was offered April, 2007. A prerequisite is the 40 hour Basic Mediation training or equivalent experience.
Additional training required by the Montana Mediation Association to obtain a Family Designation may be downloaded at the MT Mediation Association website. CMC will offer the Family Law and Family Dynamics training on an ongoing basis as there is demand. The most recent class was offered in October 2006. |
