About Us
The Community Mediation Center is a 501(c)(3) Montana non-profit corporation that has been in Bozeman since 1995.
The over 65 professionally trained volunteer mediators supoprted by a staff of an Executive Director and two employees work with schools, courts, legal services, city government, neighbors, families, and youth. Our volunteer mediators provide a framework for people in conflict to sit down together and discuss and resolve issues respectfully.
This is in contrast to our conventional legal process. When a judge imposes a decision, often both parties are dissatisfied with the result. However, when participants communicate with each other during mediation, they are often able to create their own "win-win" solutions to disputes.
The mediation process also helps people build relationships and foster cooperation within the community at large.
