Best Wishes to Robyn
September 14, 2009 — Robyn Pfahl was honored at the Volunteer Appreciation potluck on June 24th at Lindley Park. In addition to an engraved Dove, fashioned by Tina DeWeese of Down to the Wire, she also received the latest edition of Black’s Law Dictionary which she planned to take to all her associates and have them sign before entering the University of Hawaii Law School. The latest word is that they are living in temporary housing that is a one bedroom, 400 square foot room. WOW! Our thoughts and best wishes are for wonderful success. She had a major role to play in raising the standards for both Project Settle and the Family Program. Her enthusiasm and genuine concern for her clients and volunteers will be missed. Thanks Robyn!!
Peer Mediation Training
September 14, 2009 — Eighteen new sixth graders met at Chief Joseph Middle School for three days under the tutelage of Pamela Poon and Carson Taylor to learn the mediation process and practice role-playing with CMC volunteers and the Peer Mediator Coordinators from the High School (Colette Jadis), Sacajawea Middle School (Chellee Rice) and Chief Joseph Middle School (Kathy Stephens). At the end of the training, the new mediators will join an additional 75 older mediators that have cases of conflict referred by school administrators, teachers and peers.
The program was initiated in 2001 after the incident at Columbine School and has enjoyed the support of students, administrators, parents and the School Board. In addition to the Bozeman School District, a similar program of Peer Mediation is coordinated by Sally Broughton at Monforton School.
